I never thought I’d become an icon. When I was younger, the idea of me being the face of a multi-national company or appearing in adverts would have sounded like a joke. But it has happened. Not that I would ever compare myself to Michael Jordan or David Beckham. They are unique, inimitable. The rest of us can only follow in their footsteps. We could never match them. They were the ones that opened the way for sportsmen to become the focus for international advertising campaigns.
